Following the victory after World War I, a conservative movement sprouted in the United States, that advocated the establishment of democracy in the world--the shinning city on the hill--with little consideration given to international right, and with a viscerally negative attitude towards any state-sponsored programs.

Then, after the even more decisive victory following World War II, the same United States had become the leading nation of a universal imperium, forced into a protracted competition with the Euro-Atlantic Communism. This has been The Cold War. The conclusion of this struggle, between the Communist and the Capitalist Camps or Blocs, created the euphoric illusion of “history’s end”, and, consequently, placed on the agenda the idea of establishing universal human rights all over the world, under the politically correct guidance and warranties “Made in USA“.

Still, even with the changes in the former Soviet Union, and in spite of the fact that Russia went back to its Christian roots, the remaking of its alliance with the Anglo-Saxon World--as during World War II--practically failed for a number of reason, but also because Europe/EU/Germany--although an economic powerhouse--no longer nurtured its hegemonic, colonial or civilizing ambitions of the past centuries

The Neocons(ervatives) -- an alliance between the Fundamentalist Christians and the Israelites -- had come to power in the USA after the dismemberment of the Muscovite Camp, with the expressed aim of promoting Democracy and establishing human rights everywhere in the world in a “politically correct” manner. However something has been overlooked; namely that in “the country of all possibilities” the “religiously correct” became a corollary of the “politically correct”, a fact which placed the Pax Americana in difficulty.

Something else happened earlier. Following the attempt to impeach President Bill Clinton, for his sin of having had a consensual relation with a White House intern, a change of paradigm occurred in the USA. Although the effort to impeach president Clinton failed, the legitimacy of the Neocons diminished as well, and--according some, belatedly--went away altogether. And now, this perceived or factual American duplicity--is it black, or is it white, is it either “politically or religiously correct?”--continues to confound and perplex the world at large.

Because the Necons’ benevolently hegemonic political stance wore out quicker than expected, the struggle against international terrorism--following the Islamists’ attack on New York and Washington--also was and still is waged on two planes; one politically-, and the other religiously correct.

This, perhaps, is one reason for which the two-headed Noecon dragon--politically and religiously correct--appears to be failing in Irak, compelling Europe to keep the distance with respect to the Bush administration, and forces Putin into an Asiatic alliance--Russia-China--India-(Islam), until the time when the election in 2008 will have clarified the US political coordinates.

Only after the US policies will have become coherent again, and the conflicts in Asia will have boiled over, only then can Europe/EU return to the old, solid Euro-Atlantic solidarity. Russia appears to have found already its place in the symphony of the great Christian powers, by playing a tune according to its Orthodox interests and its need of independence.

Now, on the other hand, the Romanians elected to pass from the Orthodox into the Euro-Atlantic--that is the Catholic--zone, by joining the NATO alliance and the UE. Naturally, Russia is dissatisfied because of this “religiously incorrect” transmutation, and sees with equal unease the building of military bases at the mouth of the Danube, viewed as a “politically incorrect”, decision.

Presently thus, the onus is on Bucharest, which must show in what way will the implementation of liberty, justice and peace be carried out West of the River Prut, since in the East, in Moldova, still reign the Communist Party and Moscow.
